Replacing Old Memories

This past weekend my Husband, Grant and I went RV shopping.

We recently sold my 1999 heavy duty, custom, off-road Landrover Discovery, complete with rooftop tent and winch.

The complete opposite of the camping unit I once co-owned in my life before I met my Husband of today:

the unit I take you for a journey with in my memoir,

The Landrover was my dream vehicle of a life that I always imagined for myself, void of anyone else.

Perhaps it was imprinted from a past life.

Perhaps from my too-shy-to-try teenage fantasy of safaries in Africa as a world famous photographer and writer.

I enjoyed one summer with Landy before 'quickly deciding' (almost falling off the ladder to go pee in the middle of the night as a howling pack of wolves curled the hair on the back of my neck) that it belonged to someone who was younger, adventurous, bolder and unafraid to climb those out-back vistas to play with the wolves.

It was like having a mountain horse and only riding her in an arena!

But I discovered alot in the year that I had Landy, a gift from Grant to pursue my dreams once again!

I discovered that:

Snowbanks were never an issue and made great targets.

That I do not want to ever hold back on my dreams!

I may have to alter them to fit my present, but NEVER hold back!

To gear down to climb higher!

That I can live past the past and not let it control what I enjoyed long before the past ever happened.

Thank you Grant!

Thank you, Landy!

I love camping!

I loved camping with my parents during the summer as a kid, exploring the areas where Dad graded highways from the Yukon to Vancouver Island!

I loved the few times I was able to camp with my kids when they were little!

Why would I allow a few years out of my life to control what I enjoyed before it, and now when I am blissfully happy?!

"Doyoy!" said Landy as she rolled her wiper blades.

So.

We went RV shopping and dreaming.

Grant reminded me of a promise we made to eachother when we first got together:

To replace the old with the new.

To erase the hurt with our joy.

To go where no one has ever gone before:

US!

Him and I!

We packed a snack,

hopped in our truck,

grabbed a coffee from Goodearth Glenmore Landing

and hit the road to Airdrie to explore new possibilities!

We peaked inside so many RV's and it was FUN!

We found two that were our favorite and created a vision and a goal!

We love road-trip travelling!

We love leaving town on a whim and exploring the little places we usually just drive by!

Replacing the old with new.

Replacing the past with a future.

Replacing sadness with so much joy our truck pulleth over!
