"In reading Colleen’s story (INHALE by Colleen Songs) I am struck by the perception many have that it is only the mentally ill individual who is vulnerable.
The care givers are oftentimes far more vulnerable & naïve than their patient in believing they must endlessly forgive, forget, sacrifice their own needs, be strong and endure whatever mental & emotional abuse their loved one may inflict on them.
It is not uncommon for Narcissists, for example, to go to great lengths to charm & attract subservient partners who are easy to manipulate, love too big & will cater to their demands .
I hope this well-written, heart-wrenching story reaches out to others haunted by unhealthy entrapment, and provides them with the wisdom they need to know when to stay and soldier on, and when they are no longer safe and need to find a way to exit.
Thank you, Colleen for still being here for all of us!
